Hi, I’m Jackie.
I’m not a celebrity chef.
I’m just someone who loves food, misses home, and decided to try something bold, build a food business from scratch and see if I can turn it into a real restaurant.
Jackie Do Food is my public journal.
It’s where I share what I’m learning (and messing up) as I try to grow my food brand and raise $100,000 to open my first storefront in Ottawa, Canada.
No investors. No big kitchen. No shortcuts.
Just frozen beef noodle soup, Lu Rou Fan(braised pork on rice), late nights, small wins, and a lot of learning on the fly.
Why I Started This
I was born and raised in Taiwan, where food is a way of life.
After moving to Canada, I missed that connection.
So I started cooking, testing recipes, and sharing them.
What began as comfort food for myself and my wife became something more.
I realized I wanted to bring authentic Taiwanese flavours to more people — and do it in a way that’s real, independent, and community-driven.
The $100K Challenge
I gave myself a challenge:
Can I raise $100,000 by selling food, one bowl at a time, and use that to open a real restaurant?
Every week, I share updates on:
- How much I made
- What I’m cooking
- What I learned (the hard way)
- Wins, mistakes, and behind-the-scenes
It’s raw, honest, and hopefully helpful for anyone else trying to build something small and meaningful.
Who This Is For
If you’re:
- A food lover who cares about culture and flavour
- A small business dreamer who wants to see how it’s really done
- Someone who likes following real stories with real numbers
Then welcome.
You’re in the right place.
